A carbonless answer sheet is a specially designed form that allows for the automatic creation of duplicate copies without the need for carbon paper.
This is achieved through the use of carbonless copy paper, which is coated with micro-encapsulated dye or ink on the back of the top sheet and a reactive clay coating on the front of the bottom sheet. When pressure is applied by writing or marking on the top sheet, the dye capsules rupture and react with the clay on the bottom sheet, producing a duplicate mark.
